Hub Net Zero, one of the National Research Council of Thailand’s (NRCT) Hubs of Talents, took part in the MHESI Fair 2025: SCI POWER FOR FUTURE THAILAND, held alongside the National Science and Technology Fair 2025 (NST Fair 2025) at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC) from 9–17 August 2025. Hosted by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), the event brought together leading organizations to showcase science, research, and innovation driving Thailand’s sustainable future.

As part of NRCT’s initiative to showcase the work of its Hubs of Talent and Hubs of Knowledge to the public, Hub Net Zero presented an exhibition featuring research projects and workforce development initiatives that support Thailand’s transition to a net-zero economy, along with engaging, interactive activities for children.
On 14 August, Hub Net Zero hosted the seminar “Harnessing Synthetic Biology to Enhance Carbon Capture in Plants and Microalgae.” The session highlighted Hub Net Zero’s ongoing work on nature-based climate solutions, exploring how synthetic biology and big data analytics can enhance the carbon capture potential of plants and microalgae. Discussions emphasized the promise of microalgae—with their rapid growth, high carbon fixation efficiency, and ability to produce high-value compounds—alongside food crops such as cassava, which can combine carbon sequestration with food security benefits.

The seminar opened with welcome remarks from Mr. Channarong Maneerat of NRCT and featured presentations by:
- Dr. Kalyanee Paithoonrangsarid – National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, National Science and Technology Development Agency (BIOTEC-NSTDA)
- Assist. Prof. Dr. Weerayuth Kittichotirat – Pilot Plant Development and Training Institute, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT)
- Dr. Verawat Champreda – BIOTEC-NSTDA
- Dr. Weerawat Runguphan – BIOTEC-NSTDA
- Prof. Dr. Navadol Laosiripojana – Joint Graduate School of Energy and Environment, KMUTT

On 16 August, the NRCT presented certificates of appreciation to its Hubs of Talents and Hubs of Knowledge, recognizing their contributions in co-organizing exhibitions and seminars at the MHESI Fair 2025. Representing Hub Net Zero, Ms. Rattanaphon Limsaengruchi received the certificate from Prof. Dr. Supachai Pathumnakul, Permanent Secretary of MHESI. This recognition underscored Hub Net Zero’s active role in fostering innovation, collaboration, and knowledge-sharing to advance Thailand’s net-zero future.
