The Joint Graduate School of Energy and Environment (JGSEE), King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), and Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University (STOU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 3 October 2025 to strengthen academic collaboration in support of Thailand’s transition toward a sustainable low-carbon society. The signing ceremony was attended by executives from both universities, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phanompatt Smitananda, Acting President of STOU; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suvit Saetia, President of KMUTT; and Prof. Dr. Navadol Laosiripojana, Director of JGSEE and Manager of Hub Net Zero.

The MoU outlines cooperation in academic programs, research, and capacity building, with a particular focus on carbon footprint assessment, agricultural and industrial waste management, and greenhouse gas reduction strategies. The partnership also includes training and curriculum development to prepare skilled professionals for the net-zero transition, as well as joint research to support natural resource conservation and the development of a low-carbon society.

This collaboration aligns well with the missions of both institutions. JGSEE is committed to producing high-quality graduates and conducting advanced research in energy and environment to support Thailand’s decarbonization pathway. STOU, as the country’s leading open university, is committed to promoting lifelong learning, professional development, and equitable access to education.

Joining the event were key members of Hub Net Zero, including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Amnat Chidthaisong and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sirintornthep Towprayoon. Managed by JGSEE, Hub Net Zero will play an active role in this partnership by leveraging the expertise of its diverse network of members from government, industry, academia, and the research community to accelerate Thailand’s journey to net zero.
