Hub Net Zero Welcomes Prof. Dr. Lene Lange to Strengthen Collaboration in Bioeconomy and Sustainability

Hub Net Zero hosted Prof. Dr. Lene Lange, Founder and CEO of LL-BioEconomy, Denmark, for a four-day visit from 27-30 October 2025 to explore collaboration in bioeconomy, energy, and sustainable development.

Prof. Lange is a leading international expert with extensive experience spanning academia, industry, and international organizations. She has held senior positions in major life science companies and Danish universities and now leads LL-BioEconomy, a research and advisory firm dedicated to advancing the sustainable use of global bioresources.

The visit began on 27 October at King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), where Prof. Lange was warmly received by university executives, including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suvit Saetia, President of KMUTT; Dr. Kanyawim Kirtikara, Senior Vice President for Research and Innovation; Prof. Dr. Navadol Laosiripojana, Director of the Joint Graduate School of Energy and Environment (JGSEE) and Manager of Hub Net Zero; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Amnat Chidthaisong, Deputy Director of JGSEE; and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chakrit Tachaapaikoon, Deputy Director of the Pilot Plant Development and Training Institute (PDTI).

KMUTT presented its research and innovation ecosystem, including the Sustainable Energy and Environment Research Cluster and the Bioeconomy and Biodiversity Research Cluster. Prof. Lange delivered a presentation on “Potential Collaboration between KMUTT and the Technical University of Denmark in Energy, Environment, Bioeconomy, and Biodiversity,” followed by discussions on prospective joint initiatives. The day concluded with laboratory visits showcasing KMUTT’s work in rubber technology, additive manufacturing for biomedical applications, and life cycle sustainability assessment.

On 28 October, Prof. Lange visited KMUTT Bangkhuntien Campus, where she was welcomed by Dr. Annop Nopharatana, Vice President for Bangkhuntien Campus; Asst. Prof. Dr. Bunyaphat Suphanit, Director of PDTI; and Prof. Dr. Navadol Laosiripojana. She delivered a lecture on “Enzyme Development and Selection for Industrial Applications” and exchanged ideas with research groups working in enzyme technology and microbial utilization, waste management and utilization, agricultural systems biology, bioinformatics and systems biology, and the Royal Project Foundation and King’s Recommended Project Supporting Center (RSC).

On 29 October, Prof. Lange visited the National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (BIOTEC) under the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) to discuss potential collaboration in biotechnology research. The program concluded on 30 October with field visits to seaweed farms and the Phetchaburi Aquaculture Demonstration Farm, where she learned about Thailand’s sustainable aquaculture practices.
