The Energy Transition Workforce Skills Program recently completed its training course on Clean Heat, held from 17–21 August 2026, to equip working professionals with advanced knowledge and practical skills in clean thermal technologies and their applications in industrial and commercial sectors.

The Clean Heat course is part of the Energy Transition Workforce Skills Program, which is designed to strengthen Thailand’s workforce capabilities in small modular reactors (SMRs), clean heat, and hydrogen technologies. This initiative supports the country’s long-term energy security and its transition toward a low-carbon energy system. The program is driven by a multi-institutional consortium led by King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), with core expertise provided by the Joint Graduate School of Energy and Environment (JGSEE) and the Faculty of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering). Other consortium members include the Office of Atoms for Peace (OAP), the Thailand Institute of Nuclear Technology (TINT), Chulalongkorn University (Department of Nuclear Technology), the National Energy Technology Center (ENTEC), and H2Technology LLC (USA). Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pipat Chaiwiwatworakul of JGSEE serves as the project leader. The program is funded by the Program Management Unit for Frontier Brainpower and Future Industries (PMU-B) under the Office of Research and Innovation Acceleration for Competitiveness and Area Development (Public Organization) (RCAD).
The five-day training provided participants with a comprehensive understanding of clean heat technologies, thermal system efficiency, process optimization, energy storage, and the policy and market conditions supporting clean heat adoption. Delivered through a combination of lectures, Q&A sessions, practical activities, assignments, and project work, the course connected technical knowledge with real-world applications and business considerations.
The training comprised five modules:
- Module 1: Thermal System Engineering
- Module 2: Renewable Thermal Technologies
- Module 3: Process Optimization and System Integration
- Module 4: Energy Storage Systems
- Module 5: Policy and Market Frameworks for Clean Heat






The course was taught by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Horst Kreimes of Technische Hochschule Rosenheim, Germany; Asst. Prof. Dr. Yanin Sukjai of KMUTT; Dr. Siricharn Jirapongphan of SCG Chemicals; Dr. Paweetida Sungwornpatansakul of NRI Consulting & Solutions (Thailand) Co., Ltd.; and Dr. Sontaya Krichnavaruk, Director of the Climate Change Institute, Federation of Thai Industries (FTI).
