On 7 May 2025, Hub Net Zero, together with King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), the Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technological Research (TISTR), the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), and the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), hosted the second session of its workshop series on Industrial Carbon Footprint Assessment and Reduction Using the KMUTT Carbon Management Platform. This event took place at Suntara Wellness Resort and Hotel, Chachoengsao, with the support of the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) Office.

The workshop is part of a continuing initiative aimed at equipping businesses in the EEC with the knowledge, tools, and resources needed to transition toward low-carbon operations. The second cohort brought together 98 participants from 33 organizations, providing them with opportunities to build practical skills in carbon footprint management and explore technology solutions designed to support decarbonization efforts.
The opening remarks were delivered by Dr. Sontaya Krichnavaruk, Director of the Climate Change Institute, FTI, who also presented on the critical role of carbon management in the industrial sector. The session highlighted climate change strategies adopted by various countries, including Thailand, and discussed Thailand’s policy direction toward carbon neutrality. Key climate policies set to impact businesses — such as the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and carbon taxation — were also addressed.

Additional presentations featured Dr. Thapat Silalertruksa from KMUTT, who introduced the concept of Carbon Footprint for Organizations (CFO) and provided a step-by-step guide for emissions assessment and reporting. This was followed by Dr. Amporn Poyai from NSTDA, who presented a range of technologies and innovations supporting decarbonization, including renewable energy, green hydrogen, recycling and upcycling solutions, carbon capture and storage (CCS), direct air capture (DAC), and energy management systems. He also shared examples of carbon reduction initiatives undertaken by leading global and Thai companies.

In the afternoon, participants took part in one-on-one consultations with technical experts from FTI, TISTR, NSTDA, and KMUTT, receiving tailored advice on emission management approaches. A dedicated session was also held to introduce KMUTT Carbon Management Platform by speakers from iCube, a provider of data automation solutions for manufacturing.
The final workshop in this series is scheduled for 14 May 2025 at Pullman Pattaya Hotel, Chonburi, offering another opportunity for businesses in the EEC to participate in this capacity-building program.
